2005 - 2006 Season

Shows:

God's Favorite
by Neil Simon
September 30, October 1, 7, & 8
Neil Simon transports the Book of Job from the Old Testament to a mansion on Long Island, and then creates the modern version with Joe Benjamin, his wife, a prodigal son and a set of bizarre twins. The serious questions of faith confronting our modern-day Job still rise to the top, this time amid the antics created by the leading American comic playwright.
   First Nighter's: Sunday feast

Romeo and Juliet
by William Shakespeare
November 11, 12, 18, & 19
Appearing on stage for the first time at McPherson College, this timeless story of love between the “star-crossed lovers” offered students the opportunity to become acquainted with the language of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy.
   First Nighter's: romantic Italian dinner

Crow and Weasel
by James Leonard Jr.
(adapted from a book by Barry Lopez)

January 27 & 28
In this tale based on Native American myth, two friends take an adventurous trip to the Arctic Circle and back to experience a world in which they must live harmoniously with nature. This coming-of-age story is rich with lessons for how we live today.
   First Nighter's: wilderness survival meal

Dearly Departed
by David Bottrell and Jesse Jones
March 3, 4, 10, & 11
Mix the colorful characters of Steel Magnolias with the dysfunctional families of Greater Tuna and then set them all into the planning for the funeral of a family patriarch and you have a fairly good idea of the evening of fun you will experience with this new gem of the American farce.
   First Nighter's: funeral reception potluck

Guys and Dolls
by Frank Loesser
April 28 & 29
Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical version of New York City, this standard of the American musical offers one of the most vivid cast of characters to ever wander into a theatre. Gamblers, night club entertainers, and Times Square missionaries are among the many who bring to life this oddball romantic comedy featuring the songs “Luck Be a Lady,” “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” and “Bushel and a Peck.”
First Nighter's: New York City deli delicacies
