Well the semester is winding down quickly all around campus, but we’re still staying busy in the auto room. We’ve been sorting through quite a few more materials, among which are the many duplicates of magazines sitting in the back. We’re getting close to having that part of the sorting finished, and following that we should have more copies of magazines on the shelves, some new, some duplicates. The other good news about that is once most of those duplicates are in the system, we should be able to finally start putting more service manuals into the system so that they can be searched for and located more easily.
Speaking of searching, I felt like it would be worth mentioning that we do have a searchable library catalog on the McPherson College page under the library section. This search engine is really helpful for finding books, and we have a few manuals in the system, as well as most of the periodicals. It’s also helpful in that it lets you know whether something is located in the auto room or in the general collection upstairs. Of course not everything is going to be able to be easily found on the database, or you might not be able to get the information you need, but it’s not a bad place to start. And if it doesn’t work out, you know how and when to find us.
It’s also worth mentioning that soon we will be adding a few more hours in the auto room to help make things more accessible and get more work done in there. Stay tuned for an official schedule.
