I began my life in music in my home church – singing in choirs and accompanying for services. In the Waynesboro, PA school district I had many opportunities for accompanying choral groups and some musical productions. At Lebanon Valley College, I majored in Music Education with a focus on keyboard and vocal music. While there I studied with Dr. Dennis Sweigart and accompanied other students for lessons and recitals. Following graduation I did substitute teaching for two years and directed a youth choir in my home church. I received a call to ministry and completed a Masters of Divinity degree from Bethany Theological Seminary. While in seminary, I played piano for weekly chapel services. Following seminary I was ordained and I served pastorates in Ohio, Kansas, and Virginia. I also served as District Executive in Northern Plains District of the Church of the Brethren. After my training as a spiritual director, I worked for 6 years for the Dominican Sisters of Peace in Great Bend, KS as a spiritual director in their retreat center (Heartland Center for Spirituality) and as their Liturgy Coordinator. During that time, I also did piano accompanying for the local Catholic parish for English and Spanish Masses. Over much of my adult life, I have sung with community choral groups as well as church choirs. Currently I am a member of the Pastoral Team of the Monitor Church of the Brethren where I preach on a monthly basis. I also director the choir there and am one of the piano accompanists. I continue to have interest in spiritual formation and co-lead a Centering Prayer Group in my home and am a member of Spiritual Directors International and part of the network of Church of the Brethren spiritual directors.
