McPherson College seeks an enthusiastic multi-tasker for the position of Academic Advisor. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. The successful applicant will be eligible for college benefits and will report to the Provost.

The ideal candidate is capable of engaging diverse student populations in a fast-paced environment while providing comprehensive academic advising services for new and currently enrolled students.

An Academic Advisor’s responsibilities will include providing holistic academic advising to new and currently enrolled students through graduation, assisting students in developing appropriate educational goals and working towards those goals, guiding students through developing a four-year academic plan, aiding in course selection and student registration, monitoring academic progress, and teaching multiple sections of ACE: Academic Community Essentials (freshmen seminar).

The ideal candidate would possess a bachelor’s degree with at least one year of experience advising students as well as establishing and maintaining rapport with students.  Excellent interpersonal communication skills is required.  Prior experience performing transcript evaluation or processing student applications, maintaining accurate and detailed records, and having superior teamwork/collaboration skills are preferred.  Additionally, proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, and experience with Jenzabar and/or Slate are preferred. Being a bilingual speaker is a plus.

Some evening or weekend hours may be required.
