McPherson College welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Football Coach. This is a seasonal position and reports to the Head Football Coach. This position is an exempt 10-month position and is not eligible for any college benefits. The position is expected to recruit, manage, and coach collegiate student athletes. The position will have various other tasks within the program including but not limited to equipment room work and weight room coaching.
Experience: One to three years’ experience coaching football, preferably at the collegiate level.
Education: A baccalaureate degree is required.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills are required. Must have the ability to connect with and work well alongside the coaching staff, various members of the athletics department and campus, and student athletes. Must be able to lead and manage all aspects of a player position group. Must be able to help student athletes grow and develop academically, athletically, and socially. Must be willing and able to manage and recruit an area of assigned high schools, preparatory schools, and community colleges.
Physical Skills: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in light to moderate work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (10-25 pounds). Tasks involve demonstrating competitive football techniques and plays, requiring standing, moving, bending and jumping.
Technological Skills: Must be able to use Outlook, Google Drive/sheets, hudl, Word, and Excel. Graphic design skills are a plus. Must have a functioning cell phone.
Flexibility to travel is a requirement of this position. Having a valid driver’s license is a requirement of the position.
Housing is provided and on-call residential student responsibilities are required.
