McPherson College is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach with the proven ability to manage a successful program. This individual will be responsible for daily management, instruction and administration of all phases of the softball l program in accordance with all NAIA and College regulations. This individual is also responsible for specific student/athlete instruction on athletic performance, physical health, and sport team concepts specific to basketball. Finally, this individual is responsible for providing the instruction and teaching necessary for the student-athletes to be successful in their athletic and academic endeavors. This individual collaborates with the Head Softball Coach and all coaching staff to ensure a positive student-athlete experience.
Specific areas of responsibility include: instructing on practice, game preparation and strategy; assistant coach and support staff supervision; recruitment of prospective student-athletes; retention of student-athletes, monitoring the academic progress of the softball student-athletes; preparation and oversight of budget; community outreach; and program-specific and departmental fundraising.
The successful candidate must possess and will demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong work ethic and self-motivation, the ability and willingness to be a positive role model, department member and representative of the college.
This is a part-time, 12-month, exempt position. This position also comes with college benefits, including graduate school reimbursement, housing and reports to the Head Softball Coach. This position may have student life responsibilities.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Previous participation and/or coaching experience at the college level is preferred.
