McPherson College is seeking a collaborative and dynamic individual eager to serve as Director of Athletics. The position is responsible for directing all athletic activities, events and personnel and is actively involved in student-athlete enrollment and retention efforts. The successful applicant must be comfortable mentoring athletic staff, being a campus leader, managing a budget, and actively fundraising on behalf of the athletic department. The recommended applicant should be prepared to direct a robust athletic strategic plan that aims to “Consistently compete to win the KCAC Commissioners Cup without compromising our values.”
The Director of Athletics position is an exempt, full-time, 12-month position and is eligible for college benefits. This position reports to the college president and is a member of the college’s leadership team.
McPherson College’s athletic department consists of 15 varsity teams, of which five currently have junior varsity rosters. McPherson College was 4th in the Commissioner’s Cup standings (KCAC) and 87th in the Director’s Cup standings (NAIA), the college’s highest finish on both lists. Currently of the 850 students enrolled, four hundred (400) are student-athletes.
The successful applicant will have a minimum of three years experience in collegiate sports management and coaching at the college level. Outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communications skills are necessary. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
