McPherson College seeks dynamic and innovative candidates for the live-on position of Director of Residence Life.

McPherson College is a career-oriented, liberal arts institution. It is located in McPherson, Kansas, about one hour north of Wichita, the largest city in the state.  Founded in 1887 by members of the Church of the Brethren, the college remains committed to the values of the church: peace and justice, ethical behavior, and putting faith into action. The mission of McPherson College is to develop whole persons through scholarship, participation and service. The college has a primarily residential student body of over 800 with 33% minority and has been identified as a rising Hispanic-serving institution.

This position is a live-on 12-month position.  This is a full-time position and serves in a rotating on-call. This position is eligible for college benefits and reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students.

A successful candidate must be a student-centered and assessment-driven individual focused on developing the academic and personal success of all students. The Director of Residence Life is the primary administrator of the residence life program.  In this live-in or–on position, the Director of Residence Life is responsible for developing and implementing a rich and positive residential experience while prioritizing the safety and health of students.  This position oversees Resident Assistants, residential programming and functions, the creation of the Residence Hall Association, and assists with housing operations and student conduct.

The ideal candidate will exercise a high level of discretion and judgment in the day-to-day operation, embraces and promotes diversity and inclusion, and possesses strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required (Education, Counseling, or Social Work preferred); master preferred. Higher education experience preferred.

Compensation: Salary based on qualifications. Remuneration includes a monthly salary, an unfurnished apartment including utilities, college benefits, and a meal plan.
