McPherson College welcomes applications for the position of Library Services Assistant. This is a regular, three-quarter time, hourly or non-exempt position and is eligible for full college benefits. The position reports to the college’s Director of Library Services.

Mission: The mission of Miller Library is to provide access to information and to instruct and assist stakeholders in locating, using, and evaluating this information.

The successful candidate will assist in supervising library student employees, interlibrary loan, collection management, campus engagement, cataloging and processing library materials, library marketing, and other duties as assigned by the library director.

 

Requirements:

Experience: One year of experience with clerical processes and procedures, preferably in a library setting. Supervisory experience preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Interpersonal Skills: Great written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are essential. In partnership with the library director, the successful candidate will work to provide excellent customer service to library patrons, while establishing positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the wider McPherson community. The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task and prioritize effectively. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and customer service skills are required.

Other Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required. Familiarity with library systems preferred, including library catalogs and research databases. Experience in creating digital resources is helpful.

Attendance: Some alternate scheduling will include evenings and/or weekends.
