McPherson College is seeking an energetic multi-tasker to join its Center for Academic Development (CAD) team. The Student Success Specialist will help develop and implement academic support services for the college’s undergraduates with a special emphasis on at-risk students and students with learning differences.
The Student Success Specialist is a full-time, exempt position. The successful applicant will be eligible for college benefits and will report to the Director of Academic Development.
The ideal candidate is capable of engaging diverse student populations in a fast-paced environment and working across the campus community to foster and support student persistence.
The Student Success Specialist’s responsibilities will include working with peer tutors to provide supplemental instruction, individual tutoring, group tutoring, and academic workshops; collaborating with athletics to help support the academic success of student-athletes; providing academic support services for students with disabilities; developing and implementing programming for first-time freshmen; and assisting in Early Warning Team and department retention efforts.
The ideal candidate would possess at least one year of experience working with at-risk students from diverse backgrounds in an educational setting and have earned a bachelor’s degree. College-level writing, math, and science skills are expected. Additionally, excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential and proficiency in using Microsoft Office products is expected. Advanced-level ability with Excel is desirable.
