McPherson College seeks an enthusiastic student-centered professor to join the English Department for the 2024-25 academic year as an Assistant Professor of English. This is a full-time, tenure-track position, which is eligible for a rich college benefits package.

The successful candidate will assume responsibility for providing 24 credit hours of instruction in English per academic year. The person in this appointment will primarily teach writing and literature, maintain regular office hours, attend meetings, advise English majors, assist with recruiting, participate in the governance of the college, and perform other duties within the scope of this position as assigned.

A minimum of a Ph.D. degree in English is preferred while ABD candidates as well as candidates with Masters degrees will also be considered for this appointment. The ideal candidate is a generalist who has teaching or scholarly experience in one or more of the following areas: American literature, British literature, world or international literatures, linguistics, and creative writing. Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of high-quality teaching experience at the collegiate level. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology and knowledge of assessment practices in composition is required. Candidates must possess the ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to diverse students, and facilitate student learning.
