AT&T today announced a $5000 matching gift grant to McPherson College.
The grant was made by the AT&T Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the company and matches a contribution made to the institution by McPherson College President Ron Hovis, who is a retired upper level executive with the corporation.
“Ron didn’t retire; he merely changed careers from corporate America to the academic world,” Richard Shank, AT&T’s Director for External Affairs said in making the announcement.
Also, Shank commended Hovis for utilizing the AT&T Foundation matching gift program which is available to active and retired company employees. “Through the matching gift program, AT&”T active and retired employees can literally double their money when contributing to most non-profit organizations throughout the nation,” Shank continued.
AT&T has served as the major telecommunications provider for McPherson for more than 100 years.
