The Jay Leno/Popular Mechanics Scholarship was established in 1998. To fund the annual scholarship, Jay Leno and POPULAR MECHANICS agreed that the salary for writing the monthly column would go to McPherson College.
The scholarship is a full scholarship for one automotive restoration student each year.
Past recipients of the scholarship are:

2000-2001 - Adam Martin, Hagerty Insurance, Traverse City, Mich.
2001-2002 - David Muir, Terry Scarborough Racing, Santa Rosa, Calif.
2002-2003 - Tom Fairchild, Sioux Falls, S.D.
2003-2004 - Adam Banks, Rad Rides by Troy, Steger, Ill.
2004-2005 - Matt Treis, Creve Coere, Mo.
2005-2006 - Ross Barton, Golden, Colo.
2006-2007 - Adam Hammer, Mahwah, N.J.
