Our community is reinventing liberal arts – an idea that is changing in higher education. We need to redefine what it means to us. Our mission to develop whole persons prepares students for life and our career oriented liberal arts focus prepares them for earning a living. McPherson College Inaugurates One of the Youngest College Presidents 11/24/09
BIOGRAPHY
Michael P. Schneider, a 1996 graduate of McPherson College, was selected in February 2009 to serve as the fourteenth president of McPherson College. Schneider graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree and received an MBA from the University of Denver in 2001.
For the past seven years, Schneider has served the college in several roles. He began in 2002 as director of career services. He later became the vice president of advancement and, in 2007, added the vice president of admissions responsibilities. Through his leadership, the college experienced a growth in gifts and enrollment figures grew to a 30 year high.
Schneider also led the effort to redefine McPherson College as a career-oriented liberal arts college – including the establishment of a student intern program that now sees the college partnering with more than 500 companies to provide learning opportunities outside of the classroom.
Before returning to his alma mater, Schneider worked for Summit Publishing, a full service publishing company in Englewood, Colorado, that specializes in multiple industries. He was responsible for leadership and management of all day-to-day operations for the company.
Schneider is a very active community and church member and also serves as board member and general partner in two outside companies in the energy sector. He, and his wife, Kandee Krien Schneider ‘95, enjoy raising their two daughters, Hayden and Perrin, in the McPherson community.

The face of McPherson College has drastically changed. When Michael Schneider assumed the presidency in April, he became the youngest president in McPherson College history and one of the youngest presidents at any higher-education institution in the U.S.
