Nominate an alum for the Citation of Merit Award here.

Purpose

The purpose of the Alumni Citation of Merit is to recognize lifetime achievement of outstanding McPherson College Alumni. The McPherson College Alumni Citation of Merit may be granted annually to three individuals by the College, upon the recommendations of the Alumni Awards Committee and with final approval by the College Board of Trustees.

Criteria for Selection

A nominee for the Alumni Citation of Merit Award should exhibit two or more of the following criteria:

  1. Meritorious achievement and success in a profession.
  2. Recognized achievement in and contribution to community and/or area of service.
  3. Unusual service and leadership to the church, either at the denominational level and/or ecumenical level.
  4. Outstanding service and demonstrated loyalty to the College and the Alumni Association.

Any alumnus/alumna of the College is eligible to be a nominee for the Citation of Merit Award. Preference will be given to members beginning with the 35 year anniversary of graduation.

Selection of Candidates

  1. The Alumni Awards Committee, including the President of the College, ex officio, without vote, one member from the Board of Trustees, the President of the Alumni Association, the Director of Alumni Development, ex officio, without vote, the Vice-president of Advancement and/or the Director of Development, ex officio, without vote, and three alumni elected by the Alumni Board (who may or may not be members of the alumni board) shall recommend not more than three candidates per year.
  2. The committee shall recommend candidates to the College Board of Trustees, which shall exercise final approval.

Procedures for Awarding Citations

  1. The Alumni Citation of Merit shall be awarded at an appropriate college event.
  2. Recognition will be given in the Review.
  3. A recipient is expected to be in attendance to receive the citation.

Recipients are requested, but not required, to participate in the Academic Procession at Commencement

Form of Citation

  1. The Citation shall be a framed certificate signed by the President of the College and the President of the Alumni Association, or
  2. A plaque or memento bearing an appropriate inscription.

Nominate an alum for the Young Alumni Award. We are accepting nominations for future years at this time.

Purpose

The purpose of the Young Alumni Award is to recognize achievement and potential for accomplishment of McPherson College young alumni. The McPherson College Young Alumni Award may be granted annually to three individuals by the College, upon recommendation of the Alumni Awards Committee and with final approval by the College Board of Trustees.

Criteria for Selection

A nominee for the Young Alumni Award should exhibit two or more of the following criteria:

  1. Meeting significant challenges in pursuit of professional goals
  2. Service to others
  3. Service to the Church
  4. Alumni participation and support

Any alumni of the College are eligible to be a nominee for the Young Alumni Award.

Preference will be given to members celebrating class reunions (beginning with recent graduates to 30 year graduates) during Homecoming weekend.

Selection of Candidates

  1. The Alumni Award Committee, includes the President of the College, ex officio, without vote, one member from the Board of Trustees, the President of the Alumni Association, the Director of Alumni Development, ex officio, without vote, the Vice-president of Advancement and/or the Director of Development, ex officio, without vote, and three alumni elected by the Alumni Board (who may or may not be members of the alumni board) shall recommend not more than three candidates per year.
  2. The committee shall recommend candidates to the College Board of Trustees, which shall exercise final approval.

  1. The Young Alumni Award will be awarded during the Friday Honors Convocation during Homecoming weekend. Recognition will also be encouraged during the reunion luncheon of the recipient, if applicable.
  2. Recognition will be given in the Review.
  3. A recipient is expected be in attendance to receive the award.

Dayton Rothrock Teacher Education Alumni Fellow This award will be granted annually to a McPherson College graduate from the teacher education program. Nominees may be currently serving as an educator or have retired after many years of service to the profession.

Nomination Form

Nominate an alum for the Teacher Ed Fellow Award.

Purpose

This award will be granted annually to a McPherson College graduate from the teacher education program. Nominees may be currently serving as an educator or have retired after many years of service to the profession. The awardee will be invited to participate in and honored with recognition at various campus and homecoming events, such as speaking to various teacher education classes, and a luncheon or reception.

Criteria for Selection

Candidates for the award must exemplify the qualities identified in the mission statement of the teacher education program. The nominator will provide examples and personal illustrations of the following:

  1. Being service-oriented
  2. Effectively blending the art & science of teaching
  3. Knowing what and how to teach so that all learners can be successful
  4. Using best practices to meet the needs of all learners
  5. Being collaborative—with students, parents and other educators

 

Established in 1999, the McPherson College Hall of Fame honors those who displayed athletic excellence and service to the community. It is the highest honor one can receive in Bulldog Athletics. Inductions are made yearly during the Homecoming festivities held on campus at McPherson College.
