McPherson College is addressing the growing demand for on-campus living with a two-phased apartment construction project. The first phase, listed above, will provide apartment-style living accommodations for more than 200 students and be completed by fall 2027.
Q: Where will the new apartments be located?
A: The two-phase apartment construction project will be located on property north of Harter Apartments and west of the Baer Apartments. Phase One will be built along Lehmer Street, across from the soccer field.
Q: How big will the building be?
A: The apartment building will be four stories and approximately 90,000 square feet.
Q: How many students will live in the new apartment building?
A: Phase One will accommodate approximately 200-225 students.
Q: How will the apartment units be configured?
A: Each apartment will feature private bedrooms for every resident, a living room, a small kitchen with a refrigerator and stove, and a bathroom with separate shower, toilet, and double vanity. All apartments will be fully furnished with essential furniture.
Q: How many bedrooms will each apartment have?
A: Every apartment will include private bedrooms. Approximately 20% of the apartments will have two bedrooms, and 80% will have four bedrooms.
Q: How many bathrooms will each apartment have?
A: Each apartment will have one bathroom with a double vanity, shower and toilet. In the four-bedroom units, the shower and toilet will be enclosed in separate spaces to improve accessibility and reduce bottlenecks during busy times.
Q: Will there be laundry facilities?
A: Yes. Laundry facilities will be available on each floor.
Q: What other features will the new apartments offer?
A: Each unit’s mechanical room will open into the hallway, allowing facilities staff to perform repairs or inspections without entering student living spaces. All floors will be accessible by elevator, and the project will include an outdoor gathering space.
Q: Will there be parking?
A: Yes. Parking will be available adjacent to the building, along with area for loading and unloading.
Q: When will construction begin?
A: Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2026.

A: Substantial completion is anticipated by July 1, 2027, with final completion by Aug. 1, 2027.
Q: When will Phase Two begin?
A: Phase Two, which includes a second apartment building, will begin when funding is secured and enrollment is more than 1,000.
