About
EcoPyramid is a strategic card game where players race to build a pyramid with different organisms from their ecosystem deck. BEWARE! Mutation and Catastrophe cards played by any opponent can change the game or even destroy your pyramid. Use your Protection cards wisely to avoid complete collapse.
BUILD, PROTECT, or DESTROY?
Every battle is different in this dynamic card game. Try a new strategy each time! Win or lose, you are guaranteed to have fun and learn about nature.
Education + Entertainment At Its Core

Students playing the Eco Pyramid game.
Intended for ages 10+, this game was intentionally designed to be both educational and fun! The game is inspired by nature’s design. Each organism card is packed with fun facts, while the action card names and graphics are specifically selected to represent dangers and protections relevant to each ecosystem. The fast-paced and interactive nature of this game will keep players coming back for more fun. Every game is different and will require a different strategy to outwit your opponents and complete your EcoPyramid first. Win or lose, players of all ages will have a fun-filled educational experience that will keep them coming back for more.
Teachers! Check out the classroom curriculum developed by MC Curriculum & Instruction students for incorporation of this game into 4th – 7th grade classrooms.

Our Story
Made By Students For Students
In Spring 2025, six Environmental Stewardship students signed up for a seminar class focused on sustainability. The topic of the class was simple and direct: create something that can educate and excite kids about nature enough that they will want to fight to protect it. In just a semester’s time, we went from nothing, to an educational topic, to game concept, to game design, to card development, to game testing and revising, and finally classroom implementation. By the end of the semester, it was clear EcoPyramid was OURS, it was GREAT, and we wanted to SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD.

What started as a classroom project has blossomed into a campus-wide entrepreneurial venture.
EcoPyramid has expanded to multiple departments across the McPherson College campus. Students are now working on card graphics, marketing, and curriculum development. Every part of this game has been and will be student-designed. The wonderful part of this game: the product was meant to be educational for the players, but the process has ended up being just as impactful on the student creator’s college educational experience.
Our students are forward thinking and already imagining how to make the game even better with expansion packs from other ecosystems (Australian Outback, African Savannah, Himalaya, Arctic Tundra). Keep checking back for announcements of when these expansion pack will be printed and released in the future!
Supported By KDWP Chickadee Checkoff Program
This game was funded in part by the Chickadee Checkoff Program of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to conserve non-game wildlife. Early funding from this conservation-based program will support the printing of game decks that will be distributed to every school district in the state of Kansas to be used as educational science activities in elementary and middle school classrooms. McPherson College Curriculum and Instruction students are developing worksheets to be delivered with these starter decks to enhance the educational experience of the game.
