Doris Coppock (1927-2024)

McPherson College Renaissance Woman

The longest tenured employee in the history of McPherson College, and a 1948 MC graduate, Dr. Doris Coppock passed away on October 25, 2024. Regarded as a leading pioneer for women’s athletics in the state of Kansas, Doris left a remarkable legacy at McPherson College. She was a teacher, coach, mentor, influencer, friend, and supporter to many people throughout her lifetime.

“Doris was a trailblazer,” said McPherson College President Michael Schneider. “She impacted generations of McPherson College students, particularly the women she coached and mentored. Her love of sports and competition was infectious. We will miss her.”

Doris’ Legacy

Doris established the Coppock Fund as part of her legacy with McPherson College. Her desire was to support Bulldog student-athletes and the physical education program at McPherson College. Donations to the Coppock Fund will be used to provide ongoing funding for student scholarships and athletic-related programs.
