McPherson College seeks an Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students to lead its vibrant and dedicated Student Affair team.  This is a 12-month, full-time exempt position and is eligible for the college’s full employee benefits package.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President (EVP), this individual provides administrative and operational functions, focusing on supporting and developing the academic and personal success of all students at the College. Reporting to the AVP/Dean of Students are Student Affairs Operations, Student Wellbeing, Housing and Residence Life, Student Transitions and Student Life. As the College’s Chief Student Affairs Officer, this position is responsible for working with the EVP as a part of the EVP’s team to facilitate an outstanding student experience and support the achievement of the College’s retention goals. The AVP/Dean of Students is also responsible for student conduct, campus emergency response and safety, housing and residence life staff and assignments as well as for participating in the College’s efforts to increase first year and overall retention rates.

The successful candidate will possess a master’s degree from an accredited college or university and will have two or more years of student services/residential life experience.  The ability to work with individual students and student groups as well as the analysis and resolution of complex student services problems is required.  It is essential to possess the skills to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, parents, and the public.  A strong knowledge of organizational, fiscal and personnel management is also required.
