Ann Denkler has been teaching American history at the high school and college levels for twenty years. She has published two books: Sustaining Identity, Recapturing Heritage: Exploring Issues of Public History, Tourism, and Race in a Southern Town, and Writing Freedom Into Narratives of Racial Injustice in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. She was a former Fulbright Scholar to India, where she taught courses at the University of Hyderabad to graduate students in African American history, and she continues to work in teaching and educational consultant positions in India and Nepal.
