Full Story |
History Department studies are designed to nurture historical and political awareness, and to enhance critical and analytical skills.
Students are prepared for a variety of careers where strong research, organization, and writing skills are needed, as well as for graduate and professional programs in history, political science, and law. The program also prepares graduates for careers in Secondary Education with a specialization in Social Studies.
As a capstone experience, all students undertake an independent research project and produce an original work of historical scholarship.

Students with a history major are well prepared for advanced studies in history, law or political science.
In consultation with the history professors, students may also choose an area of emphasis that can include a history degree in preparation for graduate school, teaching certification in social studies, or historic automotive restoration. |
Students also benefit from internship opportunities, which introduce them to real-life experiences and situations that supplement and complement classroom learning.
